Looking for an attention-grabbing book to read next? Here are 5 fun books I’ll be reading this March, covering a mix of genres with some stand-alone books and two great series.
At the beginning of 2024, I set a goal to read 26 books over the course of the year. I was secretly hoping I would exceed that goal. After all, I read 32 books last year. However, I wasn’t sure how reading would fit into my schedule this year now that I’m back to being a full-time student.
Things are looking very promising so far. According to Goodreads, I am 7 books ahead of schedule! I’ve read 11 books in the past two months including audiobooks, which I firmly believe should count towards a reading goal. To keep my momentum going strong, I made a list of the books I’m excited to read next.
Here are 5 interesting books to read in March 2024.
My TBR List for March
All About Love by bell hooks
I kept randomly hearing this book mentioned over the last two months and I’m taking that as a sign I need to read it. I also received a gift card to the bookstore for Valentine’s Day, so it seems very fitting that I use it to purchase a book on the subject of love. In short, this book examines different aspects of love, romantic and beyond.
Closing Time by Brenda Chapman
The last book in Brenda Chapman’s Stonechild and Rouleau series, reading this one will be bittersweet. I’ve grown very attached to the characters with the previous 5 books in this mystery crime series and I don’t know if I’m ready to say goodbye. Set in Ontario, Canada, these books follow the detective work of intuitive and clever police officers Kala Stonechild and Jacques Rouleau. With each installment of the series, the mysteries have kept me guessing and I’ve enjoyed the development of the characters along the way. I highly recommend starting from the beginning with Cold Mourning.
Sunshine Nails by Mai Nguyen
I’ll be listening to the audiobook version of this one. There’s a whole cast of narrators to bring the different perspectives to life in this book about a Vietnamese-Canadian family fighting to keep their nail salon business afloat when a new high-end chain salon opens across the street. Promising a tale of morally questionable business practices (sabotage) and compelling family dynamics, I’m excited to see where this book takes me.
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
We all know the premise: a man creates a monster. I’ve been meaning to read this book for a long time now. Mary Shelley is widely considered the inventor of science fiction. It will be very interesting to read the first book of the genre!
The Dead Letter Delivery by C.J. Archer
I am eagerly anticipating the March 5th release of this fourth installment in the Glass Library series by C.J. Archer. A historical fantasy set in 1920s London, this series follows Sylvia as she digs into her family’s mysterious past to find out if she truly has magician’s blood as her late brother suspected. Along the way, she gets tangled in a few other magic-related mysteries. I find these books to be an easy read with a cast of dynamic characters to enjoy. I listened to all three of the previous (audio)books in the series this past month and I look forward to discovering what happens next!
